History & Vision

Founded in 1974 The Memorial Student Center Committee for the Awareness of the Mexican American Culture, MSC CAMAC is a recognized student organization that focuses on uniting students from diverse backgrounds by presenting programs that enrich the awareness and understanding of Latinx and Hispanic culture. This organization engages in educational cultural events to create an inclusive and family-like environment. In addition, MSC CAMAC provides a forum where members can educate themselves and others about current issues affecting Latinx and Hispanic cultures and communities. MSC CAMAC also prides itself in superior leadership development within the organization and the Memorial Student Center.

Letter from 2025-2026 MSC CAMAC Chair

 

Howdy,

Mucho gusto, my name is Libni Zafa Medrano and I am serving as the 51st chair of MSC CAMAC! Born and raised in Durango, Mexico and coming from Houston, Texas I am studying Psychology with interest in pursuing law. Class of 2027!

Coming to a different town for my studies felt suffocating, especially because I felt like an outsider to many of its customs. When I joined MSC CAMAC last year it became clear to me its purpose: Serving as a home away from home community. Through MSC CAMAC I had the honor of connecting with many wonderful people from many different backgrounds, careers, aspirations, and professions. MSC CAMAC became an outlet for me, somewhere that strengthened my sense of belonging and pride in a place where I felt like an outsider. I am proud to say how much this organization provided me with resources, connections, networks, experiences, and showed me the endless possibilities that we can have when facing a struggle.

I am honored to have the opportunity to lead and guide this organization as their Chair, and I will do so with pride and leadership.

My experience inside of MSC CAMAC was short, but incredibly impactful to me. Serving as the Executive Director of Cultural Programs in our 50th year, I grew a strong professional basis and understanding, something I believe is essential for growing entrepreneurs and businesspeople. As a student organization, we stand by our development, being a direct opening to real-world experiences and growth. I will always be entirely grateful to MSC CAMAC for providing me with such opportunities.

I would also like to specially thank those who have supported MSC CAMAC over the years, representing what we stand for, for seeing value in our purpose, and walking with us while we grow. I also want to encourage you, who is reading, to continue supporting MSC CAMAC as well! We look forward to seeing you become part of our cause. Muchas gracias por todo.
