Dia De Los Muertos

Nov. 2
"Day of the dead" had an amazing turnout with over 350 A&M students, community members and A&M faculty attending the cultural event. Also, phenomenal presentations given by the Race and Ethnic Studies Institute, the Mexican Student Association and the sociology department informed the community on the rich tradition. Beautiful alters decorated the room with dedications to family members and to the women who have been murdered in Juarez, Mexico. We had a total coverage of 3 television stations!! It was an OUTSTANDING success!!!

Mis Quince Anos

Oct. 16
"Mis Quince Anos" hosted by MSC CAMAC is a reenactment of a traditional Quinceanera produced in Hispanic cultures. At this years program we included the traditional chambelan and dama dances, which were performed by MSC CAMAC members. We also welcomed the guest with delicious quesadillas as they learned about the details and explanations of the beautiful ceremony. The night finally ended with everybody on the dance floor having a great time with each other as the traditional quinceanera music continued.

Hola Day

Sept. 3
MSC CAMAC invited the incoming freshmen aggie class of 2009 to “Hola Day”, a program designed to increase International student retention rates at Texas A&M. The students were able to indulge in great advice given by the professors Dr. Arizpe, Dr. Cifuentes, & Mr. Daniel Hernandez. They also had the opportunity to win various prizes, enjoyed the great snacks and made many friends! It was a delight to have such a record attendance at this year's program. Many of the students are now helping CAMAC grow stronger!!
